2 VISA Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance applies for rental periods not exceeding 48 days, only; to activate coverage, the car rental agency’s collision damage waiver insurance must be declined and the full cost of the rental must be charged to your card; this insurance is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada. Common Carrier Accident Insurance is underwritten by American Home Assurance Company; Purchase Security and Extended Protection Insurance is underwritten and administered by Elite Insurance Company, Vancouver, B.C.; common carrier fares or merchandise must be charged to the card to activate coverage. All insurance is subject to limitations and exclusions outlined in the insurance certificates distributed with the Card Package (for coverage included with the Card) or on enrolment (for optional coverages).
3 AVIS discounts are available at participating AVIS locations and are applied automatically when you use the Card to pay for the rental (Quebec residents may obtain the discount without using their Card, provided they show the Card when paying by an alternative payment option acceptable to AVIS).
4 Personalized CIBC Convenience Cheques can be ordered by calling a CIBC Card Services Representative. Convenience Cheques are treated as cash advances. Convenience Cheques bear interest from the date they are posted to your credit card account. Cheques cannot be used for payments on or balance transfers from other CIBC cards, Personal Lines of Credit or Loans and Mortgages. Convenience Cheques cannot be certified.
5 Cash advances bear interest from the date they are taken. Advances are subject to available credit and daily limits.
6 Understanding the Special Balance Transfer Interest Rate:
Any balances you transfer at this special low rate are added to all other items in your VISA account balance at their respective interest rates. CIBC allocates payments to lower rate items in your account balance before higher interest rate items, as described in the Cardholder Agreement. This means that your payments will be applied to special low rate offers, such as this, before higher rate items, such as regular card purchases. It also means that if you pay less than your full balance, interest will be charged on any items remaining in your balance at the interest rate that applies to them. Potential interest savings from this offer depend on your payment size and account usage.
The regular interest rate (see enclosed application form) applies to all card purchases and transactions other than balance transfers done under this special offer. The special low introductory rate on such balance transfers applies until the end of the period covered by your January 2008 statement (i.e., the statement issued in January 2008 for the period ending that month); after that, the regular interest rate will apply to any remaining transferred balances. If you do not make your Minimum Payment by your Payment Due Date for two consecutive monthly statements, you will lose the benefit of this and any other lower rate promotional offers in which you are participating and regular rates will immediately apply.
Balance Transfer Details:
We will process item 1 first, then item 2. If any item would make you exceed your available CIBC Platinum VISA card credit limit, that item will not be processed; we cannot process partial amounts. Interest applies from the date the transfer is posted to your CIBC Platinum VISA account. Balance Transfers do not result in cancellation of your non-CIBC accounts. Balance Transfer Form cannot be used for transfers from/payments to other CIBC credit cards; such requests will not be processed. Please remember to continue to make your minimum payments on non-CIBC accounts (from which you are transferring balances) until the Balance Transfer amounts are credited to those accounts (allow 3 to 4 weeks) to avoid late fees. You are responsible for any interest which continues to accrue on your non-CIBC accounts once you have transferred a balance to CIBC until the Balance Transfer amounts are credited to those accounts. Please note that stop payments on Balance Transfers cannot be processed. Completion of every section will ensure prompt processing. Please note we will allocate your payments to your account to items with lower interest rates before items with higher rates.
